The Japanese Tanto

A Tanto is a Japanese sword shorter
than 11.8" (30 cm), generally. The shape of a Tanto vary widely. Many
were Hira-zukuri, without a ridge line (shinogi).
Tanto can be mounted with, or without, a small tsuba, or hand guard. The
type pictured above is mounted with a tsuba. |
